How moderation works
Home Whispers reviews property submissions and responds to reports about public content, accounts and private messages. We may use technical signals to help prioritise work, but context and the available evidence guide moderation decisions.
We consider the content itself, the likely harm, the contributor's history, whether the conduct was deliberate, the public interest and whether a less restrictive response can address the problem. Similar cases should receive similar outcomes, while serious or urgent risks may require immediate action.
Listing review
- Check that the address, suburb, sale type and key property details are coherent and not obviously fabricated.
- Check that an external source link is relevant and does not replace the contributor's responsibility for their submission.
- Reject copied or suspicious images when the contributor cannot show that they created the media or have permission to publish it.
- Remove duplicates, misleading agency claims, impersonation and submissions created to manipulate another listing.
- Request corrections where a submission is useful but incomplete, unclear or likely to mislead.
- Approval means the submission passed the platform review; it is not a warranty that every property detail is complete or independently verified.
Content requiring urgent action
We may remove or restrict content immediately where delay could increase harm or legal risk. This includes credible threats, child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, doxxing, instructions that facilitate serious wrongdoing, scams, malware, unlawful discrimination and content that exposes property security or vulnerable occupants.
We may preserve relevant records and refer a matter to law enforcement, emergency services, eSafety or another competent authority where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect someone from serious harm.
Actions we may take
- Approve content, take no action or add context where the rules are not breached.
- Ask the contributor to edit a listing or provide evidence, permission or a source.
- Label, reduce the visibility of, lock, reject or remove content.
- Remove an image while leaving the rest of a valid listing available.
- Issue an educational notice or formal warning.
- Temporarily restrict posting, messaging, listing submission or other account features.
- Suspend or permanently ban an account for serious, repeated or evasive violations.
- Reverse rewards, reputation or engagement obtained through manipulation.
Copyright and image complaints
A rights holder can report an image or other material that they believe has been used without permission. The report should identify the protected work, the Home Whispers URL, the reporter's relationship to the work and why the use is unauthorised.
We may temporarily remove disputed media while reviewing a credible complaint. A contributor may be asked for the original file, licence, written permission or other evidence of their right to publish it. Repeated infringement may result in account restrictions or removal.
Reports and review requests
Reports should be made in good faith and include enough information for a reviewer to locate and understand the issue. We do not disclose a reporter's identity to the reported user unless required by law or necessary to investigate with the reporter's consent.
To request another review, contact [email protected] within 30 days and include the content URL, the decision being challenged and any relevant context or evidence. A different reviewer should assess the request where reasonably practicable. Repeated requests without new information may be closed.
Limits and updates
Moderation cannot guarantee that every inaccurate, offensive or unlawful item will be identified immediately. Users remain responsible for what they publish and should report content that may breach the rules.
These standards may change as the service, law and safety risks develop. Material changes will be published with an updated date.
